Pepper demand to outweigh supply in 2009 pushing the prices up

If the presentations of Nedspice at the 2009 Asta Convention held in Arizona, USA are any indication there is going to be a disequilibrium between demand and supply in 2009 with the former outweighing the latter, paving the way for the prices to remain firm or even slightly higher....

The market continued to be mixed. In Vietnam, trading was slower and prices were stable locally, while fob prices eased marginally. Stock is estimated to have limited, as major portion of this year crop has been shipped. At HCMC, local prices stood at the level of VND 35,750 per kg. In dollar terms however, the prices eased marginally due to weakening Dong against US dollar. In India, the market slowed down and prices eased.
