India pepper ends higher as local demand improves

India pepper futures ended higher on Monday supported by demand from domestic buyers even as overseas demand remained weak, analysts said.

The lack of sufficient carryover stocks and lowerarrivals of the fresh crop boosted investor appetite at home.

The market for black and white pepper was very quiet during the week under review, due to Christmas holiday. Prices at most origins were relatively unchanged, with the exception of India. In India, prices were reported up marginally compared to last week with limited activity.
